I am a Brazilian physicist, interested in mathematical modeling of biological systems,
mainly ecological and evolutionary ones. A model is a theoretical description of a system or phenomena,
and in my case they are generally changing over time, like a disease spreading in a population,
birds flocking in the sky, the heart beating or animal population bursts.
Such dynamical systems are the processes in nature that intrigue me the most,
and l use mathematical methods, with a touch of a physics mind, in order to investigate their behavior.
Currently, as a postdoc in the M3Group, I ask how microbial communities ecologically change and respond to perturbations. For instance, what does happen with the microbes inhabiting the gut after the arrival of newcomers which were ingested with food or probiotic pills? I want to understand how to control such communities using biotherapeutic strategies.
l love to teach, and I am also very interested in musical theatre and chicken sandwiches.
